Contemporary Fireplace Study in T253 – Colorado Architect – Jamie Daugaard

T253 is one of our current projects in Telluride, Colorado. This project has a contemporary flare and Colorado Architect, Jamie Daugaard and his design team are combining elements of steel with wood where they do not compete with one another but come together in harmony.

Jamie did a sketch study of the fireplace (shown below) and how it could tie into the home. The exterior of the chimney flue has been developed as all metal cladding and the transition from stone to metal in the interior brought up the kind of design opportunity that makes our mouths water as architects.

The contemporary flare is quite obvious in this fireplace with the overall horizontal shape and use of steel with sharp, clean straight edges created in the surrounding stone.

We are excited to continue to develop this contemporary design in which we have not been able to do much in the past. If you want to see what this home looks like as a digital model that you can navigate around from your own computer [CLICK HERE].

Stay tuned for more sketches and updates on this project!
