HandleBar Ranch, Colorado | Board Form Concrete

HandleBar Ranch, located in Evergreen, CO just an hour west of Denver is under construction and going well! The general contractor, Derek Best owner of Best Custom Homes, is in the process of building concrete forms for the board form concrete that will make up the stem walls. This is a neat process where we can create the texture and aesthetic we want by how the concrete is poured. If the concrete is consolidated by using vibration the effect is  a more consistent look. If they pour the concrete to be less consolidated it will create more air pockets showing more texture.  The video below shows the sample mock-ups they are doing on-site to compare which aesthetic they like better.

HandleBar Ranch is a residential project with a tradition style accompanied by contemporary accents.  Large expanses of glass, simplicity in exterior materials, and a mix from timber to steel beams and columns.

There will be a strong focus on an energy efficient design along with implementing renewable energy systems into the house.  A geothermal system, solar panels, and energy efficient windows create environmentally friendly structures that are tied together with the rustic exterior materials of vertical gray barn wood, stone, heavy timber columns, and steel beams.
