The surroundings of the land to be built on should bring about inspiration, uniqueness, and enhance solitude and security. With Haus Zwei, meaning Residence 2 in German, we recreated the slope of the land into the slope of the patina brown copper roof and terraced the floor plates to conform to the site. This curving roof was given the impression of floating with the immense amount of glass below it and would be the central element for all the other masses and interior spaces to integrate into. Red Sandstone creates this masonry base from which we applied deeply recessed windows and doors and a sense of historical rusticity. Exposed woodwork, stone, plasters, glass and stained glass will ornament the interior.
