The grandeur of Stone Canyon Ranch's surrounding terrain sits at the doorstep of the Jurgens Residence.
The lot's scenery compelled the home's design to promote appreciation and of the outdoors while enjoying the luxurious comforts of home.
The lines, layout, and detailed materiality of the home reflect the color, shape, and beauty of the natural landscape. Oriented towards the Colorado
National Monument, the floor plan accentuates the relationship between exterior and interior spaces. We encouraged the occurrence of daily life out-of-doors
by designing an outdoor kitchen, an outdoor entertainment area with a fireplace, sweeping pathways, and an inviting pool-side area.
Tuscan ranch-style themes and heavy landscaping blend the building into its natural setting. We employed various environmental applications to this low-impact
design: Low E windows, ground source heat pumps, space-age insulation materials and techniques, and thermal mass. Exposed historic timbers - both in column
and truss - will give the residence a sense of antiquity.
Architectural elements such as the broad tower, floor-to-ceiling and clerestory windows, drive-thru garage and motor court, separate children's wing, and a vaulted
asymmetric roofline in the master suite create a singular and striking design in the Jurgens Residence.
