Mountain Peek, a custom residential home in Montana’s elite private club, is featured in Dwell Magazine’s Home Tours. We at Centre Sky Architecture are proud to have our hard work, along with the consultants we teamed up with, recognized on this project. We would like to especially thank Big Sky Build and Clean Lines Interior Designs for their outstanding work on this project.
A central concept for this project, that you will hear about in the article and corresponding video interview, was the owners desire to ‘live in the view’. The property is located on a remote plot high in the Rocky Mountains with stunning views of Lone Peak, Pioneer Mountain, and Cedar Mountain. The entire design concept wrapped around maximizing the views from all spaces of the house while integrating the home into the rugged terrain.
In the Dwell interview for Home Tours Centre Sky’s Principal Architect, Jamie Daugaard, gives insight on how the design progressed. Knowing the owner’s desire to optimize the breathtaking views, Jamie anticipated the design of the house based the view corridors. Framing the main mountains from the inside with large glazing created an openness to the house. This was made possible with Kolbe Windows and Doors products. A unique Window Wall with a lift and slide application brought this idea to life, opening the living room and dining room to the outdoor patio (watch the video interview for an example!)
The collaboration between architect, builder, interior designer, and the owners from the onset of the project made it possible to create a large open house with stone and steel presence feel like a warm and intimate home. This was a really enjoyable project for our architects to be able to have discussions with the other consultants and create new and exciting ideas!
