The client had requirements for seclusion and integration of the built environment into the site. Many decks to take advantage of the surrounding views, and to create a unique style for the interior and exterior. This style evolved into the Unaweep Style, which is a mixture of elements familiar to the Anasazi of Mesa Verde and Chaco Canyon, and the Pueblo Revival Style of the 1920’s with is Moorish influenced architectural motifs with an ecological twist. Pumice-Crete walls were implemented, acting as thermal mass to absorb the heat in the hottest times of the day and to release the heat as the temperature begins to drop.
