Big Bear Lodge, Moonlight Basin | Construction Progress

Construction at Big Bear Lodge, a private residence in Moonlight Basin, is progressing smoothly! Large timbers from Lohss Construction’s timber yard were assembled and installed in early winter. This week we began to see window installation begin as well, bringing the vision of this project closer to reality. Big Bear Lodge is located in a ski in-ski out neighborhood of Moonlight Basin, overlooking the Six Shoot chair lift. This rustic mountain home embodies the surrounding mountains and indigenous forest. The exterior material palette will contain reclaimed wood siding, hand hewn timbers (which you can currently see at the project), stone siding and chimney stacks, and cedar shingle roofing. Large glazing throughout the house will help bring the outside in, capturing the stunning views from the home. Next time you are skiing in Moonlight Basin, keep your eyes peeled for this job site! The craftsmanship of the hand-hewn timbers and stone is beautiful.

Photos show the progress of Big Bear Lodge from mid-November to early January.
