Flying T Ranch | Spanish Peaks Mountain Club

Flying T Ranch, located in Spanish Peaks Mountain Club in Big Sky, MT, is near completion with framing and is preparing to start with further interior infrastructure. Late June 2017 is the expected delivery date.  Teton Heritage Builders was selected as the General Contractor with John Venner and Mike Sullivan spearheading the group of contractors and artisans. Centre Sky Architecture is so grateful to have such a competent GC leading the construction phase.  John and Mike have been a pleasure to work with. Thank you for all of your hard work thus far!

Located on a slightly sloping lot there were design requirements to have views to the South Fork stream below and orientation to the south for solar gain and to access those views.  A “less is more” approach on design and detail was taken.  With lighter toned palettes of woods and stone and hot rolled steel with blacks and pewters that will create a subtle contrast to the interior and exterior color schemes.  Throughout the project steel detailing will create unique connections that eventually transform into wood members.

Interior spaces are based on an open concept of Kitchen, Great Room and Dining as the core and other spaces expanding in linear groupings from this center.  Exterior outdoor spaces are located on the east, south and west edges of the structure and the south patio creates an expansion of the Great Room with large sliding glass panels allowing the interior and exterior to intertwine.  Window compositions are based on larger scale openings to allow the interior spaces to be well lit naturally and allow natural heat gain.
