Shelter Magazine | Editorial Feature

Shelter Magazine, a Telluride, Colorado based design and architecture magazine, featured a project of Centre Sky Architecture’s in their Winter 2016 issue. They featured a Mountain Modern home of ours, T253, commonly known as 109 Polecat located in the Mountain Village of Telluride, CO. This article touches on the changing architectural style of this area from traditional log homes and European ski-chalets to Mountain Modern homes. T253 embraces this Mountain Modern aesthetic using clean, crisp lines along with large glazing to give you the feel of floating in the mountains.

Our overall artistic statement of “Less is more” was applied to this home. The “Less is more” approach can result in a home lacking a feel of warmth and coziness though. So to counteract this we brought in warmer textures such as wood and stone and warmer colors. These complimented the exposed steel in the structure while balancing out the cool feel of steel.

Centre Sky Architecture worked very closely with the home owners to deliver their dream home in the mountains they had envisioned. They are planning on working with us on their next project, which we are very excited about.
